I’m an avid Kate Spade fan, the bright colours she infuses in all her garments are elegantly outstanding. A year ago I was lucky enough to strut one of her beautiful silk dresses at a summer wedding of a very good friend of mine in Taormina. I paired it with nude pumps and a nude quilted Chanel flap bag.
Waiting for the beautiful bride to arrive. |
There were plenty references to the 80’s like glossy pink pumps worn with ankle socks, these were accessorized with signature uptown girly elements: bows, tweed and nipped waists. But the real fun was in the old time radio clutches, purses shaped like picnic baskets, minaudieres like retro candy bars and even bracelets in the form of Brad Goreski’s glasses, Lana Del Ray nails and sleek retro hair gave it a ‘Grease Lightening’ vibe.
If I had to sum up this collection I would say that Kate Spade got a little cheeky this season.
Deborah Lloyd- President, Creative Director, Kate Spade NY added “I think there is a nod to the 80s, but it is under control this time around. It’s more of a florescent shoe or a pop of color or a crazy sunglasses. There is also a hint to the 50s and 60s, like always. The accessories are very fun this season and a definite punctuation point. Our girl is younger and more adventurous than ever. She has more edge now, and that is really exciting.”
AMEN!
Till next time..
