A Better You

Everyone deserves a little R&R and wants to look their best at all times. It doesn't end with just keeping up-to date with the latest trends, it's about looking the part from head to toe day in, day out.

'Don't judge a book by it's cover' you might have heard this one before, which by the way, I do not believe in. You can know a lot from the way a person looks and carries themselves, first impressions count! You might have an interview, a special date or just want to make a big change in your life, here are a few pointers everyone can find useful and that I personally swear by.

Keep your hair looking tidy and up-to date at all times, make sure if you colour your hair it compliments your  skin tone. Trim or cut your hair every 1 1/2 - 2 months to keep it looking fresh.

Your smile is the second thing people see when they meet you, so you need to keep it as bright as snow, if possible. Home remedy I swear by: Put some baking soda on your toothbrush and brush gently. Eating lots of raw carrots, celery and apples and drinking plenty of water helps.

Facials are a good way of keeping your face clean, always wash your face before going to bed never sleep with makeup on, it will clog your pores and create blemishes, remember to moisturise, moisturise and moisturise some more.

Eyebrows shape your face, keep your brows tidy at all times. Thin eyebrows are sooo 1920's, instead go for thick eyebrows. To create a nice brow always tweeze along your natural shape.

Make sure your eyebrow starts at point 1, high arch is at point 2 and ends at point 3. If you have sparse hairs, buy eyebrow compact powder same colour as your eyebrows and with an angled brow brush fill in and go over your eyebrows to give the illusion of thicker fuller eyebrows.

Nails should be neat and filed, even if you are one of those who never wears nail polish, apply a glossy clear coat.  Never and I mean never go out with chipped nail polish or jagged nails, it makes you look untidy and dirty.

Keep makeup to a minimum, remember makeup is there to accentuate your features not to mask your face. My daily ritual is moisture, base, eyeliner, mascara, bronzer (cannot live without it) I apply it underneath my cheekbones to create an illusion of high cheeks, blush and lippie and I'm out the door. Having appropriate, good quality make-up brushes is essential.

Make time for exercise,  when exercising you release endorphins that I call 'happy cells' which make you feel good, plus, you will have a leaner toner bod what more could you ask for? Even if it's just a quick brisk walk, go for it!  This is something I live by everyday, been doing this for the past 10 years. Find 20 mins, even if it's late at night or early morning, I am always doing some sort of exercise every day - Train to feel Sane that's my mantra!

Take Risks - Change is good!

Hope you enjoyed my feel good post today.

Till next time.
